Birdi & Associates, Inc. provided Construction Management Services for the development of the in line baggage system at Ontario International Airport. Our work on this project involved IT and security systems, including Access Control & Alarm Monitoring, Closed Circuit Television, Telecommunications, Flight Information Display, Baggage Information Display, and Airline Circuits. We additionally managed the process of operational readiness at the airport in order to ensure that it was prepared to receive the complete in line baggage handling system and related facilities and security systems.

The scope included management of the security contractor, creation of construction progress reviews and field inspection reports, field and interdisciplinary coordination with IT and security-related issues, development of monthly progress reports, witness testing and commissioning services, development of observation summary reports on each system tested, and final project close-out services related to IT and security.

Scope of Services includes the review and feedback on the following:

  • Design documents for constructability
  • Airport Security Plan (ASP) to ensure it is coordinated with the design for the Access Control System and advise of any discrepancies
  • Architectural plans and specifications and advise of potential issues related to IT and Security systems
  • Contractor shop drawings and product submittals
  • Contractor Payment Requests
  • Contractor Change Order Requests
  • All Security and IT related Requests For Information
  • The Intent of the Construction Documents with Design Consultant and Engineer for consistency with owner desired end results
  • Phasing plans and advise of potential issues regarding security
