The City of Pasadena was seeking a comprehensive and scalable solution to replace the jail’s access control and alarm monitoring system (ACAMS), jail door locks, and cell check solution. BSI designed a solution that encompasses all equipment, hardware, and software, as well as fully integrates with the existing security systems at the jail, meeting its unique operational requirements. We are providing the installation and configuration of a new turnkey jail ACAMS using OSSI’s INTELLI-SITE correctional facility control software. INTELLI-SITE will replace the jail’s access hardware, software and network capabilities with reliable, proven, up-to-date solutions. We will also be providing three years of maintenance and support.
BSI’s scope of work is summarized in these six key areas of services:
Jail Access Control and Monitoring
- BSI is installing eight access control card readers at eight jail entry doors.
- We are installing one vehicle gate controller, one east (main) vehicle sally port door controller, one elevator door controller, and 107 jail cell and jail facility door controllers.
- BSI is installing 129 audio intercoms throughout the jail cell and facility locations.
- We are installing and configuring a new jail access control and monitoring system software application, one workstation with two large touch panels in the main detention officer control area for primary full use, and two additional workstations with access to the software application interface. One of these additional workstations will have a one touch panel in the booking area for secondary use, and the second will have a one touch panel in the jail administrator’s office for secondary use.
- BSI is integrating 80 video feeds from the existing jail Genetec Omnicast video system, as well as 129 Intercom Audio and display appropriate video feeds based on the intercom locations; there will be audio communication with remote Intercom. We are integrating access to open/close the elevator door and to remotely open/close the Ramona vehicle gate, as well as to remotely lock/unlock 107 jail doors, including the 8 access control points with card readers. We are integrating access to remotely control power to six televisions, the lighting in the housing area for six pods, and the inmate phone system. Additionally, we are integrating the fire, sewer, electrical room temperature, and freezer alarm systems.
- Once the new system is in place, we will remove the current jail access control system and any verified abandoned hardware, including old intercoms, related wiring/cabling, and controllers no longer in use.
Jail Door Lock Replacement
- BSI and our partners are replacing the physical lock hardware for 107 jail doors, which includes, but is not limited to procurement, removal, installation, and testing.
Cell Check
- BSI is installing a new Cell Check Solution to enable detention officers to log the exact date/time each of these six pods and 62 cells are checked and reviewed during daily rounds. BSI’s work includes all necessary hardware procurement, removal of the old system, alarm system integration, installation, and testing.
Onsite Discovery and Planning
- BSI conducted an onsite review of the existing City systems and environment. Our work included planning for services, systems, connectivity, user identity, access, and provisioning planning. Further identification and planning took place for necessary reports of performance, health, and usage metrics.
Administrator Training, Documentation and Knowledge Transfer
- BSI’s work includes onsite staff training for administration functions and creating reports, which we have recently begun. BSI will provide administrator documentation detailing all configurations.
End User Documentation and Knowledge Transfer
- BSI will provide general end-user documentation and staff training to ensure the knowledge transfer for the Jail Access Control Alarm Monitoring System.
